At Restaurant Backstage in Tivoli Friheden, carefully selected Danish design furniture supports a unique dining experience where openness, conversation, and quality food are key. The interior blends raw materials and soft lighting with timeless furniture choices.
In Tivoli Friheden Aarhus, Restaurant Backstage brings social dining to life in an industrial setting with soaring ceilings, paper lanterns, and a lively open kitchen. With space for 250 guests, the restaurant merges Scandinavian simplicity with urban charm.
We supplied indoor and outdoor furniture for the project – practical, durable and aesthetic pieces that support the client’s vision of a vibrant and inclusive dining environment.
The dining area at Backstage is furnished with Grand Prix™ chairs from Fritz Hansen – a celebrated Danish design classic, here specified in oak veneer with seat upholstery for added comfort. The chair’s sculptural silhouette and warm wood tones complement the brasserie’s industrial material palette of exposed concrete, floor-to-ceiling windows, and minimalist fixtures.
Chosen for their elegant expression and practical qualities, the Grand Prix™ chairs are not only visually striking, but also durable, lightweight, and stackable – making them ideal for a high-traffic environment like Backstage. Their padded seat supports longer stays and social dining, ensuring guests feel at ease while the staff benefits from flexible handling and quick reconfiguration.
While we were not involved in the interior design itself, our role was to supply furniture that seamlessly supports the restaurant’s spatial concept – offering both long-term durability and everyday functionality, without compromising on aesthetic ambitions.
The outdoor terrace extends the restaurant’s atmosphere into the lush green surroundings of Tivoli Friheden. The terrace furniture is minimalistic in design and does not distract from the artistic expression of the building.
We delivered robust and weather-resistant dining sets in a dark powder-coated finish that complements the architecture’s clean lines. The outdoor furniture is designed for frequent use and easy maintenance, while still offering the same sense of style and coherence as the interior.
