Richard’s Bar
In the historic Royal Casino, with its iconic architectural details, Third.space designed and furnished Richards Bar with respect for the style and details, such as the captivating mirrored ceiling.
Unique hotel from the year 1838 in the heart of Aarhus, Denmark. At Hotel Royal, an overnight stay is an experience. Together with the hotel is the Casino and the associated bar called Richard's Bar.
Third.space was asked to create the interior solution for the Hotels Casino bar. The task has to a large extent been characterized by creating a unique atmosphere that is commensurate with the rest of the old, magnificent hotel and casino.
Our architect has created a design that combines antique details with modern elements and the comfort that today's guests expect from a place like Richards Bar.
The interior design includes custom-made furniture, light fixtures, wall painting and floor design.
The old, mirrored ceilings and panels have been preserved to honor the buildings history. The glass ceiling creates a sense of continuity throughout the room and provides a spectacular illusion and spatial experience. This is particularly striking when darkness falls and the lighting in the room is also reflected.
To accommodate guests' different preferences and moods, we have divided the room into different zones. This gives the room more private and intimate areas. However, the interior design features furniture that still allows the bar to offer flexibility so that couples can sit more privately, or groups can sit together.
The dark tones of the interior design complement the evening activities at the casino, while still giving the room an intimate atmosphere during the day.
Our goal was to create a distinctive design with high durability that would look great for many years.
The strong DNA of the hotel and casino places high demands on the interior design in terms of high-quality materials, tactile experience, and attention to detail. The custom-made benches, booths, and bar are key elements in completing the visual identity of the space.
Based on the bars function description a custom-made bar was made to both look breathtaking - but also work perfectly as a modern workstation.
