With its location close to Copenhagen city centre and airport, but in the peaceful surroundings of Amager close to the beach, the hotel is attractive to many segments.

When Go Hotel wanted to convert an existing building in central Copenhagen into a modern city budget hotel, the main challenge was to save space and maximize the number of available hotel rooms.

Reception and multi-use public areas

Natural light and views of Amager Strand are part of the guest experience from the moment they arrive at the reception area on the 4th floor. With its different cozy furniture set-up, offers a café-like lounge atmosphere that invites guests to linger.

On a relatively small space, the layout integrates check-in, a small sales counter, guest seating, coffee station and back-of-house functionality without crowding. The furniture mix with dining tables and custom-made benches, lounge chairs, and high tables support both guest relaxation and operational flexibility.

Unique for this location is the view and access to daylight. The Lighting is layered to create a welcoming mood at all hours, complementing the natural daylight from the large windows.

Skybar, breakfast restaurant, and rooftop terrace

The breakfast restaurant is also located at the 4th floor and connects directly to the hotel’s covered rooftop terrace, offering panoramic views over the Øresund and Amager Strand. In the morning, guests enjoy fresh air and open skies with their breakfast; in the evening, the same terrace and a terrace on the 5th floor becomes a retreat from the city’s energy, perfect for a quiet drink or informal meeting. The seating is varied – from sheltered dining areas to open lounge areas – and furniture is both weather-resistant and easily re-arranged. This multi-functionality allows the hotel to maximise use of prime space throughout the day and year-round.

Hotel rooms – Space efficiency meets guest comfort

We designed Go Hotel City to deliver the best possible guest experience within the framework of a quality budget hotel – and to meet the operator’s goal of optimal space utilisation.

Across 130 hotel rooms and 10 hotel apartments with nine different types of rooms and apartments, every square metre has been considered. We created flexible furniture layouts to allow each room to welcome all guests from families to solo and business travelers. Headboards and bedside tables are mounted on a discreet rail system, making them easy to reposition or remove entirely.

Beds are Third.space’s own hotel-reinforced box mattresses, engineered with 19 slats in the base instead of the standard 11–13, extra foam in the sides and corners, and an additional foam layer over the springs. This construction improves durability, keeps the shape over time, and prevents the fabric from wearing against the springs — while offering a medium-firm comfort level with a cold-foam top mattress for an optimal night’s sleep.

Surfaces, finishes, and textiles have been carefully selected for both visual appeal and operational efficiency. Durable fabrics, easy-clean finishes, and integrated storage solutions support quick turnaround and long-term wear in a high-traffic environment — ensuring that the rooms not only look good but also perform exceptionally well for both guests and staff.

Connection to the Go Hotel Brand

The design for Go Hotel City builds on the interior solution from the earlier Go Hotel Copenhagen project, also completed by Third.space, ensuring brand recognition while introducing new identity-shaping elements for Go Hotel City. Elements such as custom-made furniture in wooden surfaces, warm fabrics, painted soft-toned wall panels, and accent lighting link the properties visually, while unique features – from the receptions green wall and colorful lounge furniture – give this hotel its own distinct personality. Guests recognise the signature comfort and smart use of space yet discover a fresh atmosphere that encourages them to return.

"We had a great dialogue with Third.space, who delivered on every single one of our design wishes for Go Hotel City. They have been a joy to work with and we thank them for the great flexibility they showed during the COVID-19 pandemic."
