Surrounded by the coastline and forests, Nordborg Resort promotes Danish coastal and nature tourism and is designed to attract both Danish and international families seeking a unique holiday experience. The resort combines private holiday homes set in nature with a lively central building, restaurants, an indoor water park, and a wide range of activities.

Our task was to unite Nordic design quality with durability and functionality, creating interior design solutions that support family life, withstand intensive use, and reflect a clear and recognisable resort identity. The result is an interior concept that balances guest experience with long-term operational value for Center Parcs.

Nordic interior design for 440 resort cottages

Third.space partnered with external architect Spacon Studio to deliver a complete interior design concept for the resort cottages as contemporary holiday homes, aligned with the resort’s overall architectural and landscape vision.

The holiday homes are designed as calm and comfortable retreats for families after active days at the resort. The interiors are rooted in Nordic and Danish design traditions – light, warm, and inviting – and aim to create a strong sense of home away from home within a resort setting.

The resort features three types of holiday homes: Red (Comfort), green (Premium), and blue (VIP). Large glass sections in the living areas provide generous daylight and views of the surrounding forest or coastline from private terraces.

All homes share the same focus on durability, comfort, and practical storage solutions – key elements for family-oriented holiday accommodation.

Expert upholstery solutions for high-traffic holiday homes

A defining feature of the holiday home interiors is the upholstery concept. All sofas and armchairs were delivered with removable and washable covers, allowing easy replacement and maintenance.

This solution helps keep the interiors fresh and welcoming for guests, extends the lifespan of the furniture and reduces operational costs for the resort – a crucial consideration in large-scale family resorts with high occupancy.

Durable interiors for restaurants and shared activity areas

In addition to the holiday homes, Third.space supplied loose furniture for the resort’s shared areas, with a strong focus on durability, functionality and long-term performance. The solutions were developed to support intensive daily use while contributing to a consistent visual identity across the resort.

The Market Dome serves as the social heart of the resort, bringing together restaurants, bars, terraces and entertainment areas in one vibrant setting. Seating solutions were selected to support a wide range of guest needs and group sizes, while ensuring robustness, comfort and ease of maintenance throughout the day.

Across restaurants, cafés and bars, each venue was given its own distinct character within the overall resort concept. Furniture choices balance aesthetic expression with operational demands, allowing for high turnover, frequent cleaning and long-term use in a busy hospitality environment.

Specialist FF&E solutions for Aqua Mundo water park

Aqua Mundo is the resort’s iconic indoor water park and one of the most demanding environments. For this area, Third.space supplied FF&E and loose furniture specifically selected to perform in humid, chlorinated conditions, where standard furniture would not meet durability requirements.

All furniture was chosen for its resistance to moisture, chlorine, and temperature fluctuations, ensuring a long lifespan and stable performance in an environment with constant exposure to water and high guest traffic. At the same time, the furniture supports the visual concept of the water park, contributing to a welcoming and cohesive guest experience without compromising on technical performance.

The result is a furniture solution designed to meet the operational demands of an indoor water park while remaining fully aligned with the overall design concept of the resort.

Efficient logistics in a large-scale, car-free resort

Although Nordborg Resort covers a large area, intimacy, relaxation and connection to nature are enhanced by the fact that the entire resort is designed as a car-free area. This created a unique framework for our work: instead of using traditional heavy transport directly to each unit, we adapted our logistics to suit the character of the resort.

The furniture was repacked from large lorries into smaller vans and carefully distributed along the resort's network of paths. With tailor-made procedures for delivery and installation, we ensured that all holiday homes and facilities were furnished smoothly and efficiently.

Thanks to effective project management and a strong logistics team, we delivered large quantities on time and with precision – strengthening Third.space's role as a reliable partner for complex hospitality projects.

A unique interior identity for Nordborg Resort

The Nordborg Resort project illustrates Third.space’s ability to deliver large-scale interior design and FF&E solutions for complex holiday resort projects without compromising on design quality. By balancing aesthetics, functionality, and durability, we created interiors that support both the guest experience and operational efficiency.

The result is a clear and unique identity for Nordborg Resort: holiday homes that feel like home, social spaces that invite community, and interiors that reinforce the resort's ambition to become one of Scandinavia's most attractive holiday destinations.
